I could put together a big five-page site and it will look very good, but in real life, it can get a little boring if you don’t keep your content fresh and change it often.

A website that’s been around for two years may look the same today as it did then, but this isn’t because the content has changed – it’s because people have become more familiar with it and have come to think of it as ‘normal’.

The Benefits of Using One-Page Sites

Flexible

If you’re using Carrd, then you have total flexibility. You can start off with very basic information about the company and state your purpose in your introduction paragraph.

If you want more information you can add it, but be sure to include it in a way where people can understand it without having to read through everything to the end. There’s nothing stopping you from changing the whole thing, making it more personalized, or adding new pages to it in the future if you feel the need. You really have no limits.

On-the-go

One great advantage about having a one-page website is that you can take it with you if you move on to a different location or target a new audience.

If you moved to New York and wanted to set up a business there, you could just have a quick look over the Carrd page before deleting it. If you moved to Los Angeles and wanted to include more information, then deleting it again would be a simple matter of replacing it with something else. It’s very simple and very effective!

Easy to edit and personalized

In the past, many people would make dozens of websites to promote their small businesses. This took a lot of time and produced a lot of redundant work. Not so anymore!

You now have a choice. Either get yourself a quick template-based website, use one of the excellent free templates available, or use Carrd.

First things first, you should consider what kind of template you want to use for your site. It doesn’t have to be a fancy one with lots of professional graphics.

Instead, aim for a simpler design. A good place to start looking for one is Google. If they offer free templates, you should take advantage of them.

Using a template is easy, but can take a long time to create and publish if you don’t know what you are doing. It’s also very easy to make a mistake and ruin your site by mistake. With a Card, you can spend as much time learning how to use it as actually creating it!

If you can use a mouse, you can build your own website in under an hour.

Once you have your site up and running, test it. The easiest way to make sure your website works properly is to visit it at locales where you plan to distribute it.

Try it on your friend’s computers. Make sure it looks nice. There is nothing more frustrating than having a website that is hard to use or that just plain doesn’t work. If you’re going to spend your hard-earned time creating a website, make sure it looks great before you publish it.
